Inspired by the fabulous find that was those gorgeous Art Nouveau invites from the delightful Dear Emma Stationery store on Etsy but with a dash of THAT infamous dress in Atonement, I have pulled together an ‘Oh My God – Chartreuse’ Mood Board.
If only I had peach toned skin, like most lucky red heads, I may well have chosen this colour scheme for my own wedding, I just love it! Chartreuse is a really versatile colour – vibrant enough for Spring and Summer, but with more russet oranges it would be Autumnal perfection. It goes beautifully with ivory, with highlights in a blushing orange – the combination fresh, chic and oh so vintage.
Very Art Nouveau it makes me think of my favourite artist of the era Alphonse Mucha….
Especially with finishing touches like silver photo frames, cameos and ostrich feathers (something else I would have LOVED to have incorporated in my own wedding) the look is ultra opulent – and yet can be created on a budget, by raiding family jewellery boxes and silver cabinets!
Chartreuse is such a dramatic colour it needs an equally dramatic bridal gown. I see stunning fishtail designs, creating seductive hourglass silhouettes, like Renee with its asymmetric detailing…….
Or luxurious lace designs like the gorgeous Dakota, a slim-line bridal gown with a small train and lace overlay……
To really create a sexy but sophisticated look, nothing will do it like the bias cut Tiffany, with the fabric falling fluidly down the back – so reminiscent of that gorgeous green gown in Atonement……
On a bride, styled with loose finger wave curls and Scarlet lipstick, like Keira below, Tiffany would look so so beautiful – vintage perfection!
All 3 of the above bridal gowns are from Australian designer Karen Willis Holmes, whose work I absolutely adore! I have long been admiring Karen’s designs via her fantastic website and was delighted to discover on my latest visit that it is now even easier for brides to get their hands on her designs with the launch of her online boutique – featuring very reasonable International shipping fees, even for her bridal gowns! And a fabulous Shop the Look section in which the designer herself highlights the perfect accessories to complete the look for many of her beautiful dresses.
I think I will have to do another post on Karen’s dresses as it was incredibly difficult to choose just 3, they are all SO lovely!
And now I can’t resist another glimpse of the divine Keira Knightly in that gorgeous green gown……
Ooohhh it’s just too stunning!
